My studio features a private entrance, accessible through a courtyard with two different points of entry from the street. This entrance is reserved exclusively for students.
The outside door opens leads to a private hallway, isolated from the main house, with immediate access to the studio entrance.
I teach on two Yamaha P515 digital pianos, featuring weighted German hammered grand piano actions, (akin to acoustic grand piano actions), utizing samples from Boesendorfer Grand Imperial nine-foot grand pianos. In my studio, haing two pianos is imperative, as all students participate in two-piano "jams" with me at the lesson, as well as two-piano performance works for our recitals. Finding a recital venue with two well-maintained acoustic pianos in Saskatoon is virtually impossible. Thus, a large factor in my decision to switch to digital pianos, which can be easily moved to any recital venue.
Live video of my piano is broadcast to a large screen tv, located ditectly in front of the student piano to facilitate learning. Seating for parents is situated near the student piano.
My studio is also set up for optimal video and audio streaming, allowing me to offer Zoom lesson options to students unable to attend lessons due to illness, and those living outside of Saskatoon wishing to learn remotely.
The facility is not only a teaching studio, but also has digital recording capabilities, being equipped with state-of-the-art components.
