As a teenager in the 1960's, I was labelled as a "Hippie", not only because I had long hair, but also because I was a devoted supporter of the Peace Movement. Fifty years later, the wars are far more devastating, the violence more intense, and hatred abounds.

The "Hippie" in me still prays that someday, we will come to our senses "And the world will be as one!"

I was born in Noranda, Quebec, in the heart of the Boreal forest, about 500 km south of James Bay. Hiking, exploring, fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, camping, became second nature, as we spent so much time in the forest year round.

My family moved to Saskatoon when I was fourteen years old. I dearly missed the magical forests we left behind.

When I discovered Saskatchewan's north, I was ecstatic. At first, my young family and I lived in smelly canvas tents as we explored northern Saskatchewan. We then graduated to renting cabins, and finally managed to built our own with no power tools. The Boreal forest is my little slice of Heaven!

My homage to those majestic, magnificent, beautiful, glorious, inspiring, gifts to us all....."les arbres", (trees).

The video below is from my album, entitled "Odds & Ends", featuring a song called "Cattail Soup". I tasted the most amazing flavors of a soup made from freshly-harvested wild cattails, with my wife Velda, prepared for us by a wilderness guide named Evalisa McKillifaterick, at Forest House, 80 air miles north of Missinipe, in northern Saskatchewan.

"June 19" was written in honor of my dear mother, Olive and her sister Nina, who were very close in life, and passed away on June 19, exactly ten years apart from one another.

"Spirits" features original compositions written in remembrance of people who touched my life in special ways and left us far too soon.
